Jerry Dean “Pop” Porter, 74, of Cowpens, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

Born in Shelby, NC, he was the son of the late Lee Porter and Wilma Bachelor Porter. In addition to his wife, Margaret Porter, he is survived by two sons, Jerry Lee Porter (and family) of Cowpens and Dean White (and family) of Concord, NC; one daughter, Tracey Gossett (and family) of Cowpens; three brothers, Charles Porter (and family), Harry Lee Porter (and family) and Harold Porter (and family), all of Blacksburg; one sister, Betty Sue Patrick (and family) of Blacksburg; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 3PM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 250 Mt. Olive Road, Cowpens, with the Rev. Dennis Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1-2:45PM.
