Obituary for
Vivian Ponese Hames (Fowler)
Vivian Ponese Fowler Hames, of 728 Burnt Gin Road, widow of the late Frances L. Hames and daughter to the late W.T. Fowler and Annie Millwood Fowler, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
Mrs. Hames was born in Chester, SC, on June 25, 1932 and a native of Cherokee County. She was a retired textile worker and was of the Baptist faith. She is preceded in death by a son, Hennies Hames and three grandchildren, Shea Fleming, Tammy Mathis and Jennifer Hames Huffman. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She is survived by three sons, Frances Lee Hames and wife Jeanne, Bobby and Gerald Hames; six daughters, Christine Chapman, Alice Tyler, Virginia Owens and Wayne McAbee of Spartanburg, SC, Linda and Cedric Fleming of Union, SC, Debbie Lamb, and Kim and Tony Buice; 18 grand kids, 39 great grand kids; 10 great great grand kids; a very special pet, Tinker Bell; a niece and friend, Alma Mayfield; and friend, Edna Inman.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1 – 1:45 PM at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home, 211 E. Frederick Street. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Gene Fowler officiating.
Grandson Pallbearers: Jerry Lee Smith, Michael Smith, Johnny Whitaker, Robbie Hames, Dustin Pettit and Zach Smith.
Burial will follow at Rehoboth Baptist Church, 619 Gowdeysville Road, Gaffney.
